Alain Goldman
Born in 1961 in the Montmartre district of Paris, Alain Goldman discovered a passion for cinema and film production at an early age. After studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he earned a Master’s degree in Economics and Management, as well as a postgraduate diploma (DEA) in Finance from Paris 1 University.
He began his career alongside Jean Frydman, a major figure in French cinema, before joining MK2, where he became president of MK2 Diffusion at just 26 years old.
In 1992, Alain Goldman produced the film 1492: Conquest of Paradise, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Gérard Depardieu. On that occasion, he founded the production company Légende Films, marking the beginning of a rich and diverse filmography.
A versatile producer, Alain Goldman effortlessly navigates across genres—from drama to comedy, thriller to historical epic. He has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese, Roland Joffé, Roman Polanski, Mathieu Kassovitz, Olivier Dahan, Cédric Jimenez, Mélanie Laurent, Tristan Séguéla, Valérie Donzelli, Jan Kounen, and Alain Chabat, while also supporting the debut films of rising talents like Gad Elmaleh, Anthony Marciano, the Palmashow, Fabrice Éboué, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, and Alexis Michalik.
His high standards and visionary outlook have led to the creation of landmark works, including La Vie en Rose (La Môme), winner of 2 Oscars, 2 César Awards, 1 Golden Globe, and 5 BAFTAs, and An Officer and a Spy (J’accuse), which won the Silver Lion in Venice and 2 César Awards.
Since 2017, he has expanded into television, producing series such as The Spy, written and directed by Gideon Raff and starring Sacha Baron Cohen (Netflix), Asterix: The Battle of the Chiefs, written and directed by Alain Chabat (Netflix), and Alphonse, written and directed by Nicolas Bedos with Jean Dujardin in the lead role (Prime Video).
Starting in 2021, films produced by Alain Goldman have been released under the banners of Montmartre Films and Pitchipoï Production, continuing his commitment to high-caliber, internationally oriented cinema. He partnered with the Banijay Group and continues to explore new creative horizons.
In 2024, he produced Mercato, directed by Tristan Séguéla and starring Jamel Debbouze, as well as The Shrinking Man, an adaptation of Richard Matheson’s novel starring Jean Dujardin. The year 2025 promises to be just as dynamic, with the release of Mercato in February and the filming of À Pied d’Œuvre by Valérie Donzelli.
Alain Goldman embodies a bold and passionate vision of cinema, blending artistic ambition with international reach.
